I too have a MX700 that when I put it back in cradle to recharge it won't make contact, so I literally slammed it in cradle to try make it fit.

That is why I want to get a MX1000, this is a good price AR.

haha i know exactly what you are talking about. the metal contact areas on my mx700 are all rusted, and i had to use some sand paper get rid of the rust to make the darn thing charge again.

but lately, the right mouse button stopped responding, and the left mouse button double clicks while i single click.... so i guess it was its time :(

you can frequently find great deals on G7, which is superior to MX1000, at Amazon or Buy.com. I got one at $70 - $50 rebate at Amazon a few months ago. My MX700 also had that crappy recharging problem.

Does the G7 have the weight changing like the G5?

G7 lacks the forward and backward buttons is it? I remember it lacked some buttons that MX700 has

G7 lacks the forward button and weight-changing (it weighs more than G5 due to the battery), but has laser density change option. I believe it has higher resolution than MX1000. In addition, it has swappable rechargeable batteries.

I prefer the charging cradle (I have a MX700 as well) and "infinite" battery life over the weights anyday.

Not a bad deal. If I didn't already have one :)
