Logitech MX1000 Laser

If you OWN(ed) this mouse please post any help. I really don't want opinions from non-owners.

I am having a problem where the mouse seems to very very briefly lose communication with the base and it recenters at the bottom of the screen. This problem is KILLING it's gaming usefulness. Imagine circlestrafing someone or sniping and all of a sudden you are looking in the air. This is similar to when the first optical mice came out back in the day where you would suddenly be looking at the sky spinning in circles real quick. Then the opticals got better and better.

This is a "laser" mouse not optical. It is supposed to be a KILLER gaming mouse, every review I've read was a good one.

Should I toss it back to the store and get the Diamondback from Razer? I love the feel of this mouse and would hate to take it back if it can be resolved.

So if you own it let me know.

Actually, I hastily posted this on my way out the door to work. Hoping I'd get some feed back before I got to work. I did a search afterwards and found a plethora of comments out there "DOH!" My mistake.

Well I ended up keeping it and now I love it. I ended up moving it to the PS/2 port and now it works flawlessly. I'll leave it there until the updated drivers fix the USB issues.

I used this mouse for about an hour and reboxed it to return to the store.

Everything about it bugged me (the weight, the "high arc" profile hurts my wrist, the incredibly cheap mousewheel and the lack of game recognition for mousebuttons 4/5/6/7/8).

It seems to track fine though and I didn't have any of the delay/pickup problems mentioned in other threads. I simply hated it. =/

The Li Ion charging circuit has no low voltage protection for the onboard battery! If it says the battery is low and/or you see the red light glowing on the mouse, discontinue use immediately and return to charging dock! Failure to do this will permanently damage the Li Ion cells and require product replacement!

Logitech has horrible driver support for games. Buttons don't work. Mouse acceleration is horrible in FPS. Not to mention the MX1000 bug.

Wait untill the logitech mx518 Gaming Mouse comes out in a month or two, It is going to blow the laser out of the water.

Also you should never buy a cordless mouse for games, no matter what the marketing says. When you go back to a corded mouse you will instantly feel the responsiveness because of the lighter weight and cord. I ditched my for my old mx500. I hope they will come out with a corded laser version of the mx518

I have no problems and all my buttons work fine in games. You just need to configure the use the advanced setting configuration utilty and driver properly

NO! The mx 1000 is the cordless laser version of the MX510 they share the same exact 800dpi CMOS optical sensor. The MX518 has a 1600 DPI naitive cmos sensor. Twice the resolution with an led light source.

Yes but with the 518's sensor in place of the 510's that is in the MX1000

That is silly, It is an optical mouse since it uses a CMOS "sensor" to detect it's posistion. It's no differant than the mx900 except it uses a more intense source for illumination. Basicly It is an optical mouse.

I believe MSRP on the MX518 is 49.99 w/c means that current pricing for the MX510 will go down.

Too bad, I couldn't wait as I purchased the MX510 Blue mouse last week.

I am incredibly pleased with my mx1000. It's the best mouse I've ever owned.

The one flaw I will say is that the buttons have to be reassigned in order to use them in games.

Technically laser mice are optical mice. The source is a semiconductor diode which has a coherent output. The principle is the same. It's supposed to be superior however I've found the opposite to be true in the field. If the mouse never leaves the desk, you would never know.
