How's this compared to a normal corded mouse (say, an MS Intellimouse Explorer)? The only experience I have with cordless opticals are with my Logitech Cordless Duo (the one they gave away for free) and that mouse blew chunks.

fair question. before I hit the buy button I'd like to know also. Also, can i put the receiver on my comp tower (lets say 1 foot away and receiver is lower and hidden from the mouse) ... how much lag would I expect and how would it affect the performance.

I have this mouse and got it for 35AR at staples. I was very hesitant when i got it, thinking why should i get this for 35 dollars when i can get a microsoft optical basic for 15 dollars. Who wants to spend 35 dollars on a freaking mouse? Why the heck do you need a laser in a mouse?

Turns out that this thing is absoultely awesome and worth every penny. I have my reciver a foot away hidden from my mouse and its fine no lag whatsoever, not even the slightest bit. Nothing really affects the performance casue this thing is just great. It feels awesome in your hand. I use it for gaming like bf2 and have no lag just love it. the battery last about a 1 and a half months in heavy use( 8 hours a day) before i have to recharge. Its got a million buttons too :D

Point is, dont scrape on something you will use everyday. I would get this mouse over any cheap mouse, even if it cost 50 dollars. Now that its unbeliveable at 35, dont even hesitate, just buy it.

It has a farily similar layout to those two mice. Left and right are the same. Ditto with the forward/back buttons on the side. The application switch button has been moved between the forward/back buttons, so it's actually accessible now. The up/down scroll buttons seem slightly larger, and are again on the top and bottom of the scroll wheel. The wheel now features left/right scroll as well as up/down.

I have one of these. Very sensitive and accurate. Just for grins, I went 20ft away with my mouse and I could still see it moving the cursor, so range is not an issue. All the reviews rave about it. 9+ almost everywhere.

I got it mainly because the wood grain on my desk would occasionally make my old intellimouse stutter when trying to move, and it would have minor cusor shake when I left it in one place. The laser mouse has fixed all of this. The hype is true IMHO.

Anyone know when they're phasing out the MX1000? Cuz I know there will be a lot of MX1000 deals, and I want to wait for a slightly better deal. I don't want to wait *too* long.

Got mine but may have to return it. :-(

If it worked, it would be better than the MX700 it was supposed to replace.

The problem is: it sometimes decides to send a variable number of left clicks when one is made. The number seems to range from 5 to 70. It only happens about one in several hundred clicks but is a real nuisance when scrolling a large page/document because you lose your place. So far it hasn't happened when clicking on an object but its just a matter of time before it starts some program or process I didn't want. Anyone else having this problem? I wonder if the problem is in the mouse or in the base unit.

BTW, the power indicater is a bad design. There are 3 green LEDs on the left side. The more lights lit, the more charged it is. But they come on anytime you move the mouse and are a distraction. I much prefered the old way where there was a constant blinking light when the battery was low. I guess I can put a piece of duct tape over the LEDs ;-) (if I replace this defective one instead of returning it)
