if you don't want to spend too much money go for the mx510. if you are a hardcore gamer then you might want to go for the mx518 since it provides more control. if you're a casual gamer then you might end up not using all the features of the mx518 because you might not notice the difference or won't have the patience to learn how to use the mouse to your advantage. if you like to tweak things then go for the 518.

that?s only my opinion on things. a mouse is a user interface device and ergonomics is kind of a black art so if somebody else likes how mouse x feels in their hand does not mean you?ll like it too.

best thing is to go in a shop and try out before buying

Read about it on their website. It has to do with better presision due to higher resolution or some crap like that. If you aren't a top 10 cal gamer then the mx510 will be more than you need already.

yes i think so. main difference between the 510 and 518 is the abitlity to chose the resolution of the 518 on the fly. there is some switch on the outside i think. also the 518's resolution is 1600dpi. i think that is useful in cs where low res is used for sniping and higher res for running and shooting (or the other way round) just google 518. there are a lot of reviews by now

Any of the logitech mx series would be a good choice. The mx300/310/500/510/518 are all wired mice, while the mx700/900/1000 are all wireless. Also, the higher the number, the more expensive the mouse is.

The 310 and the 510 are shaped differently, but im pretty sure the 510 and the 518 are shaped the same. The only real difference is that the 518 has adjustable dpi buttons instead of cruise control buttons. Personally, i think the adjustable dpi is mainly just a gimmic to set it apart from other gaming mice. Some people seem to like it, while others dont; i guess it's just a personal choice...

Also, the 518 has a max resolution of 1600dpi, where as the 510 is 800dpi, but in reality, unless your a surgeon, your hands probably arent stable enough to take advantage of the extra resolution.
