I finally got a new mouse. Yeah, I've have some corded ones for emergency use stowed away somewhere. I've got a Logitech V220 notebook mouse that I had used whenever I was working on a computer that did not have no ps/2 ports. However, I was still in love with my 13-year old Logitech Cordless MouseMan Optical that I bought when it came out in 2002. It may show some slight wear, but worked flawlessly. Full sized and weighted just right. The only downside was replacing the batteries (AA x 2) every 2-3 weeks. Yes, I have gone through a lot of alkaline batteries!
Well, I finally bought me a new fancy mouse. Say hello to the Logitech MX Master!
She's a beauty, eh? It's got the usual layout on top with the left and right click buttons. The middle wheel acts as a button when pushed. The button behind the scroll wheel allows me to change the behavior from free spinning to click actuation. I prefer the feel of the latter. If you spin it fast enough the gears release and it becomes free spinning until you slow it down where it reverts to the click actuation. Nice!
On the side of the mouse (from the picture) you'll notice a side thumb scroll wheel for when your web page is wider than your window. Simple. There's also a forward and backwards button immediately behind the thumb scroll wheel. Finally, there's a "gesture" button that 's located directly below where your thumb rests. Just push down/release and you can easily move between open applications.
The battery is rechargeable. You plug it in to a microUSB cable for four minutes and it's enough for the day. Let it fully charge and it's enough to last 40 days. Sweet! It works on most any surface, including glass.
There's just one down side. I cannot for the life of me get the Logitech Options software to recognize the damn mouse! Seriously, WTF?! The mouse works great, but part of the allure was that one would have the ability to customize button function and gesture actions. I see quite of few threads on the Logitech forums, but nothing dealing with my issue other than their software is crap. I'm using the Unifying receiver with Win7 so it's not an issue with Bluetooth. The mouse works great otherwise. Anyone else have this mouse and found a way to get the software to work in Windows 7?
