Logitech MX duo - short range?

This is just a curiosity question. My secondary PC is in my living room and is connected to my stereo and TV. To make things nice and elegant, I bought a Logitech MX duo because my roomate from school had one. The idea is to keep the wireless keyboard and mouse on the coffee table and use the comp. The max distance from keyboard to reciever is like 6 feet. But I did experience a problem where the keyboard and mouse would crap out if the reciever was on the comp case, on the tv stand (right next to the tv), or in front of the floor speaker. I'm wondering if these things caused some kind of interference of it the wireless range is just pathetic. It works fine when I pull the reciever out 2 feet in fron the the comp and the entertainment center. I'm just wondering if this short a range (3-4ft) is expected, because it would be nice if i could leave my reciever by the comp where no one will step on it.

I put mine beside my lcd monitor and it works fine..

Don't know bout the range but its pretty far... guess as long as u can see the stuff on ur monitor, it should work..

I get about 11-12ft on mine.

and my base station is behind two CRT monitors.

do those things have ANY delay in them? CS does not need ANY delay at all

My mouse has no lag that I can notice.

I only notice the keyboard lag in halo when I'm trying to melee, otherwise it's pretty good.

About the range thing, I would have to say it depends on how charged the batteries in the mouse and keyboard are. My keyboard has a reach of about 3-4 meters (I think that's about 10-12 feet) and is pretty consistent regardless of battery power. The mouse on the other hand has a much shorter reach - about 3-4 meters but with freshly charged NiMHs, and much less (1-2 meters) when the batteries have already been used for a day or two.

I should mention that my base is located far away from the monitor (~2 feet) and I don't think it gets any interference from that or anything else. Also the base is currently only connected to the USB port and not to the electric system, but I don't think that matters.

I think that Nebor mentioned that the Bluetooth combo has a much longer reach (also mentioned on Logitech's site), but I'm not sure that justifies the enormous price difference.

IIRC, the "electric system" is used for charging the mouse. It doesn't actually provide power to the receiver.

No, no delay whatsoever.

I actually switched from the MX duo to the MX duo for bluetooth because of range issues. Now I can use my mouse\keyboard out to 30 ft. $150 though, ouch.

whats the lowest price that the mx duo regular can be had for? im looking to get one to replace my standard no frills keyboard/mouse solution.
