Hi, I just installed a logitech mx 500 on a new pentium 2.8c system that is running at 3.3 Ghz, everything on the computer is working beautifully except for when xp pro boots up, the mouse just locks in the middle of the screen. The computer is not locked up but the mouse just sits there , and the only way I can get it to work Sometimes is unplugging the mouse and plugging it back in. Could I just need to download the newest version of mouseware, because this computer I just got up and running last night, worked fine last night, but today the mouse keeps locking up. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Well try getting the new mouseware, but that shouldn't be a problem. My MX700 works flawlessly without Logitech's Mouseware at all (all the buttons work like they should, I just can't adjust them yet). I also have WinXP Pro. The mouse did lock up on my at the very first boot, but that was fixed with a press of the channel button which you don't have. Maybe it could be the hardware.

Do you have the mouseware installed at all? I have the same mouse and it works fine with no mouseware installed. Try getting rid of the mouseware and see if that helps at all.

Just thought of something, one time when I booted up (after taking my computer apart) it was frozen in the center of the screen. I switched usb slots with my Wingman rumblepad and it worked. I've kept it in the same usb ever since (probably just superstition since the Wingman works fine in there.)

Another vote for no mouseware. For me it would cause all sorts of problems in games, but went i got rid of it all the problems went away... just let windows use it's default mouse driver. You can't remap any of the buttons then, but you dont' have to deal with poorly written logitech software either ;)
