Logitech Mouseman Wheel + 3M Precision Mousing Pad = ?

Would the Logitech Mouseman Wheel be any good with a 3M Precision mousepad? I dig this mouse and the pad but I'm not sure how well they'd work together because I believe the Logitech is an optical mouse.

I'm basically looking for a good mouse and pad combo for fps
