Logitech Mouseman Dual Optical wheel problem

I just received my Logitech Dual Optical mouse today and it's great, but has a nagging problem. The wheel has absolutely no feel to it. There are no defined clicks or stops in the mouse to indicate how many lines you scroll. Every other mouse I've used has had this to at least some extent. The regular logitech dual optical mouse's wheel didn't have this problem. I find that I cannot accurately scroll through a document or webpage with the wheel the way it is. Is my wheel defective or are all wheels on this model like this?

Thanks, I got an RMA and I'm shipping it out.

Just out of curiosity, how is the "clicking?" I've seen 2 extremes, one is the boomslang with very hard, defined clicks, and an optical intellimouse with very soft clicks.
