Logitech Gaming Software Issues With G910

Last night I experienced something that has never happened before with my logitech gaming software version 8.70.315. It started while I was browsing the web when I tried to type text into a search box. Just as soon as I tried typing my cursor jumped up to the browser menu and started cycling through it with each keystroke. After several reboots I ended up uninstalling and then reinstalling the software. Now my keyboard, g910, will not retain its color settings when I power down and reverts to the generic blue color scheme. Has anyone else had this problem occur with their g910?

It looks like a couple other people are seeing the same problems. http://forums.logitech.com/t5/Logitech-G-Keyboards/bd-p/gserieskeyboards

I just also realized that my logitech icon isn't showing in the system tray once again. I had that issue a lot before I reinstalled this OS. It's a huge pita because I have to kill it in task manager and try to start it multiple times before it will work. I'm running version 8.58.183.

Here is the change log for the version you have installed. http://support.logitech.com/en_us/product/rgb-gaming-keyboard-g910

Updated Description:

  • Added support for the G29 Driving Force Racing Wheel
  • Added support for the G920 Driving Force Racing Wheel
  • Improved connectivity to the Logitech Arx Control app - version 1.2 of the Arx Control required
  • Removed Apple Bonjour requirement for the Arx Control app
  • ARX SDK bug fixes
  • Updated LED Illumination SDK to support Per Key Illumination for the G910 - see gaming.logitech.com/developers for details
  • Bug fix for LGS hang with G502 mouse
  • New profiles added: Assetto Corso, Gas Guzzlers Extreme, Grand Theft Auto V, iRacing, Project CARS, Rust, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
I still have a copy of the 64 bit version I have installed if you want me to upload it somewhere.

Edit: Here is version 8.58.183 64bit which I have installed on a Windows 8.1 machine. http://www.mediafire.com/download/cqrdq66l6qpltpi/LGS_8.58.183_x64_Logitech.exe

Thanks for the reply. I happened to still have it on my hd and rolled back last night. My kb still fails to retain the color settings and starts up generic blue until the Logitech software loads in windows and then it will return to my color profile. Before the issue it retained the color setting without any problems.

You probably know this but there is an option for games to control illumination. Have you tried unticking it?

Does your keyboard have firmware that shows in settings - G910 tab? If so I wonder if it's possible to roll it back? My g9 mouse has firmware but my G710 keyboard does not so YMMV.

Yes I have that option unclicked. On the bright side rolling back to the older software has allowed my kb to function normally again. It now retains the color settings in memory and has them when I power up just like it did prior to installing the latest software which started this saga in the first place. Yes both my kb and mouse show their fw version in the tabs, however I don't think that it's possible to roll it back.

Good to hear rolling back the software fixed your issues. From what I understand Logitech's software has it's quirks. I also see you posted on their forum. Hopefully they will take you seriously and address the issue.

You know this is the first time I've ever had an issue like this with a software update. During the time that my kb was acting up my mouse was functioning properly. The fact that it occurred shortly after updating the software really took me aback. I tried swapping my kb from usb 3 to usb 2 and then back to 3 and so far I've not had anything weird happen. I just hope that my kb continues to function, especially while I'm taking a timed test in school.

Well in the end DM was showing that my Logitech devices were not functioning properly with the big yellow exclamation marks beside them. I ended up reinstalling the new driver and they went away so now we'll just have to see if it happens again.

It's strange that the problem also showed in device manager. I'm glad that it's now working though and I hope it works for you during testing. Perhaps you should have a backup usb keyboard on standby just in case.

After reading the topic you posted in I'm going to try using usb 2.0 ports for my mouse and keyboard and see if it fixes my issue.

I filed a tech support ticket for the new software not retaining my color settings. I do have an old ione scorpius m10 mechanical kb that I have just in case my main should fail. I actually have a brand new Logitech g710+ sitting in the closet that I could fall back on if I had to but I'm planning to sell it to go against the price of this 910.

I'm glad you have other keyboards. Failing a test because of a keyboard software failure would stink.

I just got a G710 a couple of weeks ago. Fry's had them for $60 with a coupon so I couldn't resist. I like everything but the cheap, floppy, plastic palm rest. Your 910 looks much better. I wonder if its palm rests work on the g710s?
