Ok i just bought a G7 and im having some problems getting it to work.

My old mouse is an mx700 and i have it hooked up thru a PS/2 adapter and it has worked fine for years. I hooked up my G7 and it didnt work. I started the process of elimination at that point.

I hooked it up to my wife's PC and it works just fine. I did notice that when i plugged the mini reciever into her usb that it detected new hardware and installed the HID drivers for it. It didnt do this on mine. Now that i know for a fact the mouse isnt broke i went to work on troubleshooting it on my PC.

I hooked up the charging station to my usb port and it is charging the battery so i know it works. I plugged my printer into the usb port on the charger and it could print thru there so i know the usb port on the charger works as well. I tried my printer on every usb port i have and they all work with it just fine.

I tried every port with the reciever and nothing.....I then tried plugging my old mx700 into a usb port and it wont work that way either. So i then tried running the G7 thru the ps/2 adapter and still nothing. I have tried every combo i can think of to get it to work and nothing. I have searched the internet for answers and all i can find is praise for the G7 nothing about troubleshooting it. The logitech site is worthless. So i am turning to you guys.

Please help me i have been waiting to get this mouse for so long and now i finally talk my wife into letting me order it and it doesnt work.....

What operating system are you using? On the logitech site it specifies it as needing XP. Have you tried restarting the PC with the original mouse?

Of course i have XP with all updates. Yes if i reboot with my mx700 in the PS/2 slot it works. If its in the USB slot it wont work. Leads me to believe that for some reason i cant use a USB mouse..... But obviously my usb ports do work as i stated my printer will work in all of the usb slots on my PC. Also as i said the charger/usb port that came with the mouse is working on my pc. It is charging the battery and the usb port works for that. But what wont work is the mini reciever that came with the G7. It works on my wifes PC but mine does not seem to recognize it.

Is there some way that i can force my PC to recognize a mouse plugged into a USB port? Or force it to recognize the mini reciever?

Yup. But after countless frustrating hours of no expination i called zipzoomfly and they agreed to take it back as long as i paid for another mouse. I ordered up the G5 so hopefully i can just plug that into the ps/2 port and have no problems. Cordless would be nice but oh well.
