Draft! I bought this mouse last month for $63.99!

It's a very good mouse for gaming--very smooth effortless glide and shift on the fly sensitivity. Latest version of Logitech SetPoint also allows you to save button assignments for different programs. A great feature that Microsoft used to have with its IntelliMice and inexplicably abandoned. Finally, you power the mouse directly from a USB port and that's a huge improvement over the AC power adapter of the other Logitech rechargeable mice.

Mine's black with the pseudo carbon fiber and ugly non-matching blue buttons. I don't think Logitech even makes the mouse with the old silver and green color scheme.

The bad news is that the mouse has no forward button for internet browser use and has at least three fewer buttons than my old MX1000. And, even if the mouse is not in use, it will burn through its battery in a day or so. It's not a huge problem since there's always another battery in the charger, but it's kind of a hassle to come home from a two day trip and have to slap a new battery in your mouse before you can use your computer.

You might want another mouse for everyday computer tasks.

My $00.02.

Nice deal, how does this mouse compare to the G5? The G5 is like $44.95 as its cheapest price. I was tempted to buy the G7, but by reading the posts here about its short battery life has kind of made me take a second look. If its battery life can last a week, then it should be ok.

Does this mouse have the same accuracy of the G5 in FPSs? Same feel? Same weight?

I think the battery life is better than that, but what's the problem when you have two batteries, so one is in use and the other is charging? It takes about 5 seconds to switch the batteries.

Exactly. Not only does it only take a few seconds to switch but you never have to buy additional batteries for it. Bought mine when it first released. Don't have problem with battery life. Love it.

Ordered mine today. Good to hear we're getting the carbon fiber one, although I would have ordered it anyway. I've been eyeballing this mouse for a while and this is a smoking deal even before rebate.

I've had one for a while and just surfing the web and doing office stuff, the battery will last about 24 hours. I take the battery out if I'm going to be away for a few days. I'm not all that happy with it. I still think theres a delay because of the wireless and I'm going back to a mx518 because it has the forward button which is important to me.

i don't own the mouse.... yet.... but why would you need to take out the battery, when you can just turn off the mouse, or swap the other battery in when you come back?

Huh? My MX518 is just an emergency back-up mouse now that I have the G7. If you're looking for a replacement for the missing second thumb button, just program one of the scroll wheel tilt buttons to do that.

MX518 has a second thumb button and an applications button but no left/right scroll wheel tilt buttons. Reprogramming those two tilt wheel buttons gives you the same amount of buttons as the MX518. Still can't figure out why people complain about the G7 having less buttons.
