Logitech G5 or G7? Which is the better value?

So I had a MX Revolution but the left click started doing a double click instead of single click. Needless to say that grew old very quick so I picked up a Microsoft Laser 6000. While its a decent mouse it feels way too light. So I was thinking of either the G5 or G7. G5 I can get locally but can't seem to find a G7. I thought Best Buy used to carry them but they don't have them listed on the website. So if I go with the G7 I'll probably have to get it from the Egg or somewhere.

I like the wireless freedom of a mouse and have never been bothered by lag since I suck at FPS anyway, a better mouse isn't going to like make me an all-star. For people who have had both or either one how would you compare the two.

I also looked at the Razor mice but have never owned one before so not sure what to choose there. As long as it has a back browesr thumb button I'm cool. Two thumb buttons are plus.

G7 has been my main mouse for years but they had to send me 2 replacements for left mouse button double clicking on a single so that would be my recommended mouse. Logitech is really good on warranty replacements as long as you have a receipt. Even without a receipt I could have sent in part of the mouse to get the replacement.

Thanks for that techmanc. I'm sure I have the recipet somewhere. I'll contact them about a replacement. Was leaning towards the G7 but the Razer Deathadder and Lachesis look pretty good too.

NP bka4u2c at least that way you have your G7 and could still try a different mouse if you want.

fwiw - I use a MX Revolution for everyday use and a G7 for gaming. I'm happy with the combo.

since you seem to have gone all out on the rest of your hardware, maybe you wouldn't mind doing the same for the mouse :p

If that one is too expensive, there's always Microsoft's SideWinder X8

biggest problem seems to be that they're both still in preorder as they have yet to be released

Ended up going with MS Sidewinder since I caught it on sale. First mouse I had with changeable dpi settings. So far so good, killing as usual in Mercenaries 2.

G7 would be good for your needs if you hate wired. But be advised razer is coming out with a new wireless/wired hybrid mouse. It might be worth checking out.
