Logitech G5 left mouse button failing

Last night, for the first time in maybe a couple months, I fired off CS just to give it a spin. Everything was ok until I encountered a situation where I wanted to just hold down the left mouse button of my G5 and spray - it would not. Only a single shot fired. It is as if they changed all guns to semi-auto only.

After fiddling around with it a bit I realized that if I press the button with any sort of real pressure, the mouse would recognize it as me having already released the button. If I pressed lightly, it would still work. To illustrate my point, here is a graph of the state of the logical button (represented by 0=off and 1=on) vs. the pressure on the physical button:

Now it could be that I'm a heavy clicker, but this is the first time something like this has ever happened to me. I've owned, prior to the G5, a MX510, MX500, MX300, a few more Logitech optical mice, and never had this issue before.

I'm wondering if this has happened to anyone else, and what I should do with my mouse. I wouldn't mind taking it apart to mess with the click button a bit with a knife, etc., although if the fix involves any sort of soldering, I'd be better off just getting a new mouse ;P

should be still under warranty no? the technical specs say the button should be able to withstand 8 million clicks. call up logitech and have a go with them!

I had the same problem with my old Logitech scroll-wheel optical mouse - left mouse button would release before I unclicked.

I upgraded to the Logitech G5, which arrived yesterday. So far I like it... the scroll-wheel button is quite a bit different than on my old mouse, so that will take some getting used to, but I'm sure will be fine.

Maybe it's a typical Logitech issue?
