Logitech G5 - Gaming Surfaces

I picked up one of those G5's and to my dismay, it does not work on a black icemat! Hmm
Anyone else have a G5 that is working on a pro grade gaming surface? If so which ones.

I use a func with my logitech mx1000, which has a laser so it is probably pretty similar to yours. I actually had bad luck with my mx1000 on a cloth pad.

I use a version 1.0 optical Intellimouse on an even older cloth mousepad. I've had no compelling reason come along to change either, except that the pad is so old, the foam is beginning to disintegrate. There is nothing wrong with a cloth mousepad, it provides a great surface texture for the optics to scan. You're buying into marketing hype.

Just listen to him. He doesn't want cloth because it's not a "pro grade gaming surface." Just take some mouspad you got free and write "Uber X-Treme Pro Fata1ity Gamer Cyber-pad" with a sharpie and sell it to him for $129.99.

Anyone looking to create a startup company?😛

I love cloth pads. I wouldn't replace my Allsop with anything.

As for G5, like I've always been preaching on this forum, it's picky in terms of pads. I noticed it had some problems on dark pads in general, not just Icemat.

I prefer the MX518 anyway 😉

Hmm, I just use my laser mouse on my desk. I thought that was one of the benefits of not having a ball mouse; I doubt any mousepad, hard surface or not, is going to be noticably better than a wooden desk. (btw, most of those pro gamer mouse pads remind me of cutting boards)

I second that, Get the firmware. And your right tostada, alot of nubs fall for the marketing hype.

Alot of nubs?

I have been a PC Gamer for over ten years and have played just about every one of the popular games out there to it's end. I am very picky about my gaming tools that's all. No need for blind assumptions here. I will try the firmware update.

I ripped the plactic cover off of my chemistry notebook and electrical taped it to my computer desk. Works great! Slick and thin and tracks perfectly with my mx-1000. and the best part? The cost!

By several suggestions I just flashed the firmware and the mouse now works fine on my icemat. Thanks to those for the help.

You gotta be kidding me? A Pro-Gamer mousepad? LOL, what a tool.

Pro gaming "surface". It's made of tempered smoked glass. Easy to clean and ultra slick for optical and laser mice.

Yay, another intelligent gamer! 🙂 It's fixed-firmware
