Logitech Freedom Cordless Keyboard and Mouse

The only bad thing on cordless is low sampling rate of 50hz,if you`re a gamer then don`t buy cordless devices, the other bad thing is batteries don`t last that long,I`m a gamer & was getting through the mouse ones in 12 weeks, when I changed to USB corded Logitech mouse I notice the speed difference in gaming etc as well.

You will burn through some batteries. W euse 'em in our conference rooms at work and they can be shaky at times.

I use USB which has a 125hz rate,I love my Logitech optical Mouseman Wheel,I use the Logitech iTouch Keyboard which is hasss two USB hubs built in,you can use it as a PS2 or USB keyboard, btw same for the optical mouse comes with USB to PS2 adaptor, getting the right surface for the mouse helps, even with optical mouse the better the surface for the sensor the better.

You will probably get different replies but this is what I use & works fine for me.

I have the Cordless iTouch Keybaord and Mouseman Wheel combo, but the mouse is a little low on the sampling rate when playing CS or UT or Quake, OK for games like RPG, Diablo 2 and the like. So I ahve 2 mice runnign for me, the Cordless for general surfing and stuff, and the Optical corded Mouseman Wheel for gaming.

I would go Logitech Power all the way 🙂 I have had MS int eh past but they have let me down on build quality and overall ergonomics of the mouse, so went Logitech and no probs so far, 2 Logitech Keybaords no prob, 3 Logitech mice no probs.

So go Logitech is all I am going to say. they Cordless keybaord should be fine for general gaming 🙂

Hope this helps you amke up your mind 🙂

Albert.

I play CS,Quake and UT also Dark Reign 2....P.S. I really dislike Diablo 2 im more of a real time strategy player and first person shooter, always play online.

<< Arent those cordless devices too?Im a gamer and you said gamers shouldnt buy cordless devices. >>

I`ve the corded version iTouch keyboard,& corded Logitech optical mouseman wheel mouse(using USB for both).

🙂

i always get confused on the diff betw cordless and wireless
one is infrared and the other is radio freq, right?
wireless is radio, right?
is it better than IR?
i don't like IR because of the line of sight

Death, you can't use the terms "cordless" and "wireless" to determine the type of mouse/keyboard. Different companies use both terms for IR as well as RF peripherals. RF is definitely better than IR because the transmitter does not have to be pointed at the receiver.

Well wireless or cordless is up to the manufacture whichever sounds better to them I think, so it does not really corespond to a specific techno, but you are right there are 2 types of non-corded communicatiob between pereferal and receiver. Logitech and MS use Radio wave technology which measn complete freedom from wires but withing a specific radius from the receiver. The IR ones can be used further from the receiver but has to be pointed at it at all times to work and not recommended. There are 2 versions to the iTouch, I ahve both and the one youa re looking for is the Cordless iTouch, which I have, the other one which both me and Mem have is the Corded iTouch with 2 port USB hub built in, which is not the one you are looking for.

If you want gaming then get the Cordless iTouch keybaord separately and then also get the Logitech Optical Mouseman Wheel mouse. That would be a pretty much perfect combo. About over 80% I would give for that setup in gaming, for hard core you will need a better keyboard but it will do because you will only be pressing so mabny keys in one go and will not over load it or anything, just keep an eye on the battery power.

Hope this helps you even more 🙂

Albert.

EDIT: DOH! Beaten to it by Bigsmooth, but I guess confirming it is no harm, but I hope the rest helps 🙂

I disagree with my mate Al,you should go corded keyboard, since the cordless are 50hz,& the corded iTouch keyboard is 125hz in USB mode.Just remember Logitech have two models one cordless & one corded, so the corded version is better for gaming.

🙂

Yeah I have to admit that if you want good recommandations on a gaming Keybaord then the Logitech iTouch corded with 2 USB ports suggested by my mate MEM is the best iTouch for gmaing, but if you still want to stick with your freedom then the alternative is the Cordless iTouch 😛 BTW the Cordless does not have 2 USB ports on the back of it.

Hope this helps you even further 🙂

Albert.

I like the keyboard, the mousey is nice for windows and regualar use, but for games i keep a Logitech optical handy.

Keep Batteries handy at all times, when they die, they die fast!

True dat.

Got frustrated like crazy trying to turn quickly or smoothly in a fast-paced game. Eventually switched to itouch keyboard and logitech optical! Works awesome! I used to be crappy and now I am much less crappy! 😀

i have it. time to invest in some nimh batteries... 1600 mAh or more =)

the rf makes it much better than IR. and um, it's USB =)
