Hi,

I'm looking for a simple keyboard and mouse set to complement a budget build. Nothing fancy, just a corded set that would work for the average non-demanding user.

I saw a Logitech Deluxe OEM keyboard & optical mouse combo for a good price at a local store, and it seems like a good option to me. However when I turned to Logitech's website it wasn't listed there, so it makes me wonder if I'm about to get something negative or outdated.

Do you guys think it's a good product or should I look at something else? I can also get the the Logitech Classic keyboard but then the mouse would have to be bought separately.

Odds are it is an outdated model. But then again, unless you need a keyboard
with Programmable or Internet Keys Programmed into it or want to custom
program the keys, I would not worry about using it. A keyboard is just that. It will
either use PS2 port or a USB Port and if it needs special software, that should
come with it. Same for most Mice

i like oem microsoft oem multimedia natural keyboards:) might be harder to find now, maybe on some smaller web stores or maybe the new version is out in oem as well i don't know. i paid about 25 bucks, half the price of the retail model, difference is minor like color, mine was black and white instead of blue and white for retail, no big deal. i prefer the ms keyboards because of the ergonomics, you get used to it rather quickly then all other keyboards just feel cramped. mines lasted for years now without a hitch

bruceb thanks for your reply :)

0roo0roo, thanks for the advice, I'll look at Microsoft keyboards too. The Microsoft Natural Ergonomic 4000 model is available in my area, and seems like a very good purchase. There's also the Microsoft Comfort Curve 2000. Do you know if the latter suffers from the F-Lock issue where the F1..12 keys repeatedly default to properietary functionality? That'd be annoying I guess. I know it has been fixed in the 4000 model (so once you turn on F-Lock it stays that way) but am not sure about the 2000.

oh, well i don't know if the newer ones do that, but mine has the flock reset if i reset the computer. its annoying but i've been trained to push it on over time:p i think theres an app that you can download to automatically trigger it? my older logitech kb also did the same flock thing:p wasn't the flock going off by itself only an issue if you didn't install the driver? anyways i'd go for the 4000 over the 2000 anyways, the 2000 doesn't go far enough.
