Well I just got this from the OVerstock.com deal. I'm typing on it right now, and there are some huge issues:

HUGE lag from the keyboard. I mean, not insane. But enough that I can definately type more than 2 words faster than it can display.

The Mouse's accuracy is also not very good. It likes to jump, and the its not nearly as smooth as it could be.

Now I'm not new to cordless mice, infact I have a Logitech Cordless Notebook mouse that seems to perform better htan the MX700!

Is anybody else experiencing this lackluster perforamnce or is this just how the MX DUO performs normally?

I'm sure for everyday normal use, ti would be ok. But damn, I was counting on this to be able to CS or something atleast decently. May not be possible...

I had trouble with one of the older models (I think mine is cordless Elite duo, but I'm not certain). Did you install the software, or just let windows XP look after it? Whichever you did, try the other option. Also try switching to/from the ps/2 ports.

I'm using mine without the logitech software, and on a usb port, and it works fine, but when I originally had it on a w2k machine, the only way I eventually made it work was to reformat (I think old kb/m software didn't uninstall properly and caused some sort of conflict).

Well I've always used the latest Mouseware. And, I've installed the latest Itouch as well. As well as reinstalled Mouseware just for the heck of it. I will try it on the USB ports though and see how that works out. Its currently in both PS2s.

hi,
something must be wrong with your setup or your mx duo hardware. i'm running the same refurb from the same hot deal and everything is working great. just like the other set i have that was straight retail.
i'm not the fastest typer but i'm not bad and everything keeps up. and i use this mouse setup for css with no problem.
i had problems with the setup from overstock first because the nimh batteries they sent me were bad. but after i replaced them with some of my own, everything is working perfectly.
i havent installed any of the logitech drivers (work pc) maybe removing the drivers and using the straight windows drivers would help. if it works like that it must be logitech's software install.
good luck.

I don't have the Duo because I want everything corded for gaming. Cordless keyboards will always have some lag and can be very frustrating if you ar a fast typer and when gaming.
As for the mouse, I have the MX510, but have generally heard good things about the 700. But it's cordless, so it will have some minor lag.
I would return it if you can and get a corded KB and the MX510.

I got the MX Duo from that same thread. I posted my problem there but it seems it was ignored so I'll just cut and paste it here.

Strange problem with it. When I connect it via PS/2, the base station will disconnect from my PC when I soft or hard reboot. The only way to get it to reconnect is to turn off the power via my PSU, discharge it, then flip it back on and then my PC.

When I connect the base station to the USB port, it'll work when I reboot soft or hard but I can't use the mouse or keyboard until XP boots. I can't get into the bios or anything and I know USB keyboard and mouse are turned on in the bios.

Anyone else having problem with this? I highly suspect it's an incompatibility with the base station and my particular motherboard, a K8N-Neo, which seems to continue feeding power to the PS/2 ports even when the PC is off. I've noticed this for a while because the LED light on my Microsoft Intellimouse never goes off even when the PC is off.

Also, last night when I was playing UT2K4 the keyboard flipped out on me. Other than the quoted problem above, everything works fine until last night. When I was moving around, it movement became jerky like the keyboard was losing it's connection with the base station. I quit the game and tried to type a test message and noticed that only some of my keystrokes were getting through. I tried to reestablish the connection to the base station and that worked for about 30 seconds before doing the same thing.

It's working better now and I typed this entire reply without too much trouble but it's still getting flakey now and then. Aside from my cordless phone which was in it's base the entire time the flakeyness occured, I don't see what else could cause the interference. I think I'll be returning this and possibly just spending a little more to get it brand new or just sticking to the corded k/m (I'd really prefer to use PS/2 ports, not be forced to use USB).

I don't have a solution, but these are the EXACT symptoms I had with my elite duo setup when I added it to my w2k machine; I reformated eventually and it worked fine. I never had a similar problem with XP though, but two and a half years later the setup works flawlessly; there was nothing wrong with the hardware.

My best suggestion is to make sure any older kb/m software and hardware ahs been uninstalled properly.

I never installed kb/m software and this is a new install of XP as I got my new motherboard the same day as the MX Duo.

I suspect it is a hardware problem because even it if was the software installed on XP, it wouldn't and shouldn't affect my ability to get into the BIOS, which I can't get to with the MX Duo.

I'm probably going to return it anyway. I could live with it being connected to the USB port but the unpredictable flakeyness of the kb that seemed to pop up out of no where was the deciding factor.

Same here. I ordered a Razer Diamondback & a Saitek Gamer's Keyboard because I didn't want to risk having these kinds of issues.
