Building new system.
Need new keyboard and mouse. I'm thinking about an optical mouse.

How are these radio controlled items?
Ever use them?
Any good?
Worth the premium paid?

Logitech Cordless Trackman Wheel Mouse $64.49

Logitech Cordless iTouch Keyboard $46.99

I have and use both, works great. Just keep extra batteries on hand. If you find suddenly you cannot type or the mouse no longer works, the batteries went kaput. It's nice to sit 5 feet from my desk and type with no cords around.

I have the Microsoft Intellimouse Optical, 6 buttons including wheel. but not the silver one called "Explorer".
Got it cheap and love it.

yup. personally i think those cordless keyboards and mouse are great. and yup, remember to keep a few AAA size batteries handy though! don't want your mouse to run out of batteries halfway through CS or UT or quake!

Cannot stand cordless.. Never again will I use that junk!
batteries, out of range, flukey movements, interference, etc.. I have the same virtually the exact same keyboard and mouse now except they have cords and I am MUCH more satisfied.. whoever wants to buy a cordless desktop that works "fine" is free to have my kb and mouse for very cheap. :)

I love it.

I have a Cordless Freedom pro (the ergonomic version of the iTouch).

The cordless mice are limited to 50 or 60Hz refresh rate, where as corded ones can go up to 200hz on PS/2 or 125Hz on USB. So I have an optical mouse as well that I use for sniping accuracy.

But for most stuff I use the cordless and I love it!...so awesome.

Like they said make sure you have spare batteries...it sucks to run out ;)

I have a MS optical and it's really nice! Smooth and not a ball either, hehe. Also have a cordless mouse but i prefer the optical mouse. If i were to get a cordless input device, it would be a keyboard, mouse go for optical.

I think you'll save yourself some money if you checked this thread out. James is a reputable trader and he's got some awesome deals on all kinds of mice and trackball..

I like my Logitech cordless. If you flick it too fast it gets lost, but I've seen that happen with opticals, too, so it seems like there's not much you can do to avoid it.

spamboy, if you use the right surface and the right sensitivity levels you will receive flawless accuracy with an optical mouse. It just takes some tweaking :)

Got the Logitech Cordless Desktop Pro (same as Freedom pro, never going back to the old corded key board ever again..:) Second the "keep" batteries handy tip.
