i have this set and it seems that its causing my computer to freeze (not sure... maybe its due to other reason) because my comp freezes (not bsod... just freezing) mostly when the mouse is moving around...
i was wondering whether this has happened to anybody else that has this set?
any suggestions on how i can fix my prob would be appreciated
thanx

I have this set, and the same mouse on another pc. Replace the AA's in the mouse. The light looks good, but the batteries aren't so good anymore. It seems to happen very suddenly-- mouses great, then sucks all of a sudden. It's the batteries.

Batteries only last about a month for me. But I still really like the mouse. Especially with the free AR batteries from CC on Black Friday!

fatwombat, I've seen the same problem on my rig when the batteries get low like Skibby9 posted. Also, be sure you are using the latest iTouch software as the Logitech website has an update to the version that ships in the box. Hope this helps.

did your computer freeze because the battery was low (kind of like the way i described it where everything just hangs, not bsod)?
ok i will replace batteries and see... cuz according to the mouse whatever... the battery level is still good
i am running win98se and i did install all the latest itouch, mouseware softwares...
thanx

Zim Hosein--
Could you tell us if there are real differences between the default windows drivers and the ones from logitech? Windows 2000 recognizes both the left and right buttons, the scroll wheel, and the thumb button is set for "back" in explorer. Personally, I'm happy with those settings. In light of this, would you still recommend updating the drivers? Or do they add annoying features and spyware?

(still shaken from my last bout with "updated" logitech input device drivers on windows update)

EDIT: Fatwombat--- yes. No BSOD. The system *appears* to slow down as the mouse pointer skips across the screen. Actually the system is working fine. It's just that the mouse is angry about the dying batteries. Hmmm... I wonder how much longer they'll last in my mp3 player after the mouse doesn't like them anymore...

I was going to buy this set, but I dont know if I like the idea of buying new batteries for my mouse once a month.

the batteries in the keyboard are supposed to last *much* longer than they do in the mouse. I like to lean waaaay back whilst I surf the net, so the cordless mouse was key for me. Plus I like the shape/feel/weight/buttons. Batteries aren't that pricey.

Also, the keyboard is really nice. But that is a personal preference. I'm moving overseas and can't take most of my belongings, so the ps is my whole entertainment system. I gotta be free from cords and be able to use the pc comfortably for extended periods. Like a year.

I think it was worth the $80 it costs at costco. But then again I think that the 400W THX-certified Z-560's from mwave.com were a steal, even at ~$140.

I guess the total experience is really important to me-- I can (and do) spend hours straight on my pc. Better than spending money on more temporary things like movies.

yea i like the design and how everything feels... but i have to say changing the battery like once a month for the mouse sounds a little steep
i am gonna try using a corded optical mouse to see whether or not its the low battery thats causing my computer to freeze
i got mine set for like $65 so i cant complain :) normally a cordless optical mouse costs ~$50 so pretty good deal

Get rechargable batteries such as the everyedy ones. I leave a set charged and change when needed.

Skibby9, personally for me I always use the iTouch software over the default Win drivers because w/ the iTouch s/w, you have better control over the mouse speed. When I use the default Win drivers for LogiTech mice, I can never really set the pointer motion to my liking.

Zim and others--
Thanks for the replies... maybe I'll have to give those drivers a shot... Also, good call on the rechargeables... And also, I suppose I should qualify my statement with some info--- that is, my wife and I use the pc easily several hours a day. Normal users should get much longer life from their batteries.

One other thing-- it seems that many people don't like cordless mice for gaming-- I'm just fine with this one, although maybe I don't know what I'm missing--I haven't tried any of the so-called "gamer's" mice. My mouse seems to respond just as well as a typical standard corded ball mouse, but fits my hand better, and slides perfectly all the time. BTW, I play Unreal Tournament, some Half-Life and Counterstrike, and others, too, but mostly Operation Flashpoint. Hell, the gunsight moves so naturally (if you've ever tried really hard to qualify with an M-16 you know what I mean) in OFP that I don't see how an uber mouse can help much. Maybe they reduce fatigue?
