So I lost my home theater remote and thought I'd give one of these a try and ditch the other 3 remotes I have hanging around. Came across this which I thought was a deal, even though it's a refurb.

A replacement remote through sony was $70, so this is cheaper and hopefully will work well. I've read good things about this remote on this site.

*DEAD* Amazon is using a secondary retailer for the item now and it's up to $80.

ordered one...almost ordered 2

Anybody seeing anything about a warranty? I'd feel better if it at least had a 30 day warranty or something.

refurb has 90 day warranty. Says under the image of the comparisons of all of them. I'm going to assume Amazon is an authorized dealer.

*Only applies to new retail remotes purchased from an authorized dealer. Factory-refurbished remotes carry a 90-day warranty when puchased from an authorized dealer.

update:
got the remote. It's freaking awesome. I am wondering why I never bought one sooner. Best investment in a long while.

How is the quality of the refurb? I bought a refurbed one of a different model a while back and none of the buttons on the right of the screen worked. Fortunately the company (ecost I think) refunded everything and paid to have it shipped back.

Also, the price is now up to $79 for the refurb. :(

Got mine for $40 and it's def. the coolest thing I've purchased in a while. Puts every remote I have to shame! No more looking for the right remote in the couch cushions!

Sucks it went up to $80 though. Man, what a steal at $40. I was going to buy a few more for xmas gifts too!

Love mine. Only issue i've had is sometimes when doing a page down on the channel menu, it will lag so i'll hit it again, and then it will go twice all of the sudden. Had the same issue with a different remote at my old place, think it was a harmony 1000.

I had a Harmony remote once. The damned thing asked me questions. I threw it in the garbage.

My model has ZERO scuffs/scratches. It looks completely brand new. New CD/cable and 4 dead shrink wrapped AAA duracell batteries. I checked the remote over good and even the battery compartment was unscathed.

I edited the thread title and first post. Amazon's no longer got any in stock so its defaulting to another retailer through their site.

Yup, same here. Looked brand new. Too bad it's dead.

agreed. I was going to buy 2 more and give them as gifts to my dad and brother. Oh well. Maybe Amazon will come into some more refurb stock.

Good to hear. I'll definitely consider buying from them should they get any more in at Amazon. That last one I had not only didn't work, but it looked like it had but kicked around on a sidewalk for a while.

Scagnetti, any info on the shape of the remote? Scuffs, scratches, etc.?

I got a Harmony 890 refurb recently for $99.99. It looked factory new when it arrived, except that it came in a plain brown box instead of retail packaging. They even put the plastic sticky stuff back on the glossy parts of the remote to protect it during shipping.
