Does anybody know if the backlight can be turned off? Also, how's its functionality otherwise? I've been looking to get a black digital fan controller for my rig in progress and this seems to fit the bill..

Also, if I plug in some Panaflo "Ultra High Speed" fans, will it be able to lower fan speeds despite the fans' lack of TACH output?

You don't need the sense wire to lower the duty cycle on a fan, but if it tries to adjust the RPM itself (via modifying the duty cycle, but it would be considering the RPM sense), you do.
