Login and Service loading in WinXP

Bill Gates claims that XP boots really fast, and it surely does. But from what I've seen, that's since all the XP services load after you log on, whereas 2K loads all the services before you get to the login screen.

Here's the deal, after installation, I am able to have it load services after logon. But after installing a few progs, when I logon, I have to wait another two minutes for the services load before XP gets me to the desktop; I have to stare at the login screen for two minutes. Once I make a new account and customize my settings, login is normal again (services load after I'm on the desktop). This is extremely odd, and I want to know if anyone has similar problems or can offer help.
