log usb connects/disconnects?

i've been randomly getting the disconnect chime follow immediately by connect chime. since i have many usb devices connected and it's happening randomly (maybe once a week), it'd be easiest to diagnose if i could look at a log.

is there a log in xp of all the usb connects and disconnects?

if not is there some free software that will monitor?

Setupapi.log in c:\windows.

Setupapi.log in c:\windows.

that file seems to only show installations, not connect/disconnect of devices already installed.
