Lodsys sues Rovio over Angry Birds infringement

Lodsys has sued Rovio over Angry Birds for Android (and iPhone), along with Electronic Arts (EA), Atari, Square Enix, and Take-Two Interactive - and many others (37 total, in fact). The latter publishers were all sued for iPhone games.

Sad, judge needs to slap these idiots down so hard they'll be looking at the lichens.

If they were smart they would have sued just one or two developers in order to get their patent upheld by a court. Now they've sued all kinds of people with big legal teams. This is not going to end well for them.

Software patents are stupid as fuck and should be abolished. Or at the very least, they need to be extremely narrowly defined, down to patenting lines of code rather than vague, nebulous ideas.

Both were filed recently, so it's likely that there's some existing prior art. Feel free to go through the claims and find a loophole.

I believe that Apple's argument is that their developers are covered under Apple's licenses of these patents. There's also some question as to whether or not these patents will hold up in court.

I believe that Lodsys is a fairly small enterprise, so it's fairly likely that the legal heat that everyone and their grandmother will be sending at them will most likely make life miserable for them.
