Try this on!

A friend is having major problems with an old ASUS P6300 Notebook. I recently helped him format the HD and reinstall crappy ol' Win 98 SE. After everything was installed and set up he began surfing away. He didn't have any trouble getting online and most of the time browsing web pages worked without pain, but when trying to download different files from pages, through P2P (Direct connect) and even through the local network the computer just freezes. Everyhting locks up and you have to reboot. Not ONE single file has made it through without this happenning.

Now, I've tried reinstalling the Network PC Card, downloading new drivers, getting all the vital stuff from Windows Update but nothing's helped so far. Does anyone out there have ANY idea what's going on with this thing???

Sys specs:
ASUS P6300 Notebook 233mhz
48 (?) MB RAM
3com 10/100 LAN+56k Global Modem Cardbus Type III PC Card
Win 98 SE
Internet Explorer 6 SP 1

Any help appreciated!

Possibly lack of RAM. 48MB is not much.

I had a system with only 64MB of RAM and the system frequently froze/crashed (although motherboard, EPOX, may have had something to do with it also).
