lockups getting annoying...

I finally built my first system, now it's freezing on me. it locket up about 5 times today, where no keys respond, and after a few seconds, anytime I move the mouse the PC speaker beeps, although ctrl+alt+del still works 😛

it froze while playing an AVI file 3 times, while trying to play NHL 2001 and NFS: porshe unleashed, and even while copying a file from the DVD drive. I have the 4-in-1 drivers, everything in the right order. my specs:

kt7-raid
tbird 900@900
128megs ram
30gb maxtor ATA100 hard drive
radeon 32meg DDR

I have no idea what is causing this, so any ideas at all would be helpful...thanks!
 
check and see how many things you are loading on the inital set-up. Windows loves loading tons of useless drivers that just eat up memory and space. Hit Ctrl-Alt-Del and see what you have running. End task on some that you don't use and see if that helps. Since the mouse seems related to issue, make certain you have the correct and most current drivers loaded. If not, you may have a stability problem with your motherboard/bios/cpu.
