Got a duron 600 @ 950(1.75 V), winME, 128mb infineon pc133 ram, hercules prophet mx, mx300 sound card, 1 8.4 gb wd hard drie, 1 8.4 maxtor hard drive, 250 watt source(whichever one comes with the enlight 7237)
Problem : randomly locks up. Screen will freeze, mouse is still movable. Sometimes ctrl-alt-del will work, other times will not. reboot is required to get free of lockup. Seems to occur most when opening programs or playing winamp.
Attempted solutions: bumping voltage up to 1.8(system should be stable, ran rc5 for about 20 hours without any problems.) Removing all bios tweaks, reducing i/o voltage, fresh install of ME, got the 2048 drivers for the aureal card, card is not in the shared pci irq slot, system is running declocked somewhat(was at 1ghz @ 1.825 V)

i suspect its the a3d card, but hoping its not. before i reformatted and reinstalled however the card ran perfectly with WinME. the problem only occured after i replaced the master HD.

I am running an athlong 750 tbird and had lock up problems also. Make sure you don't have any IRQ conflicts with video and sound cards. Also go into the bios and change optimal mode to normal mode. It was suggested in this forum and my computer is 100% stable now but you do lose some speed.
Hope this helps a bit.

I have a similar setup (Tbird 800, A7V and a MX300).

There are a few things you might try to do to get things working, although everything works perfectly for me. First, make sure you have the latest version of the VIA 4in1 drivers installed. They can be gotten from www.viatech.com. If that doesn't help, go into your device manager, and under your soundcard, disable 1.)Soundblaster dos compatability (i forget the exact name they use here), and 2.) the gameport

Restart your computer, and see if that helps any. I didn't have any initial problems with my MX300 on my A7V, however, for some strange reason it decided to conflict with my DSL modem, and so i had to disable the SB legacy dos compatability to get it working again. It took me a while to track that problem down, but now everything is working great. Good luck.

doh forgot to mention i do have the latest 4in 1 drivers installed. the dos emulation is already disabled but i did not disable the gameport, which i'll try later tonight. I'll also try the optimal mode. thanks
