I jumped on this bandwagon last year. They are supposed to be shipping within the next month or three. I don't have an iphone so until they enable BLE4.0 on android I won't be able to use it to the maximum potential. I am however excited to get it and see how I like it. I'll update this thread when I can play with it for a few weeks.

Update March 8th
Bringing you the best possible Lockitron is a process of constant improvement. Since we last showed off Lockitron at CES, we have found ways to reduce friction in the mechanism that drives Lockitron’s unlocking and locking action.

The bad news is this requires a modification to the molds used in Lockitron’s motor housing. We have just heard back from the factory, and the official word is this will delay shipment by approximately 4 weeks. Our first run of Lockitron parts should be coming off the presses in mid-April and then shipped to the U.S. for quality control, final assembly, testing and packaging.

While we hate to introduce any changes this close to release, we found this modification to be essential and will greatly increase Lockitron’s longevity and result in quieter operation. It has been a very hard decision for us to make, we hope you will understand that this short-term delay will pay dividends so you may continue to use your Lockitron for many years to come.

On a more positive note, the fantastic support we have received since our Selfstarter campaign closed in November has enabled us to upgrade our overall production capacity. We have since found a final assembly and fulfillment facility that can easily cope with the increased demand so we can now ship more Lockitrons more quickly. While we’re not thrilled to have a delayed start, we are very glad to have a bigger “engine.”

.... Changes this late aren't a good sign. I'm guessing they weren't lasting long at all based on their need to make that change now.

Neat idea but the price needs to come down but with $2M in preorders, I guess there is no reason to.

Personally I don't have a use for such a device other than the novelty factory. I never unlock my front door from the outside nor do I care if I forgot to lock it.

the idea is brilliant. instead of creating a totally new lock, this just works with whatever lock installed already.

Exactly. Initially I was looking at the Unikey, but that product requires a brand new lock (not great as we are renting currently). Then I was informed of this product, shortly after I placed my preorder. I like how they are going about raising funds too. You dont give them any money until they ship, and they dont hold the preorder, amazon does.

Cool stuff, though it wouldn't be of any use to me, but this would be great for apartment renters.

What happens when you lose your phone though?

Looks really cool, especially nice when you have groceries and you can unlock the door before your hands are full.

Just hope they are right about the bank quality security protocols, it would be pretty devastating if hackers were able to get a hold of information like that.

Not particularly concerned about security on that front. There are tons of ways to break in to someones home. Why would a potential theif choose one of the more complicated and time consuming ways.

$180? Holy crap. No thx.

Lol, while I'm sure it will happen and I can't be upset about it, I'll still say F*ck when a month after the pre-orders go out the price drops by half. Ah well, if it works the way I think it will, it will be worth it to me.

Plus, from what I gather, while most of the parts are china sourced, assembly is in North America. I'm one of those fools that can't stand disposable junk and would prefer to have fewer things, pay more, and support local economy.
