Locking the CD and floppy drives in XP

Is there a way to lock these drives in Windows XP so that others can't use them? I have an XP machine set up as a process computer and would like to lock down the drives so others don't load software on it.

GPO can do this...

as can the BIOS, disabe their controllers, password protect BIOS changes.

You can also disable them in Device Manager, but a local policy is probably the best option.

What is GPO?

click start - run and type gpedit.msc

check bellow computer settings - Windows Settings - Security Settings - Local Policies - Security Options.

You can do a lot more. Just check administrative templates.

This work for standalone computers.

If you have a domain with multiples computers its better to use GPOs (Group Policy Objects)
