I need to set up 2 computers with Win2K in an office lobby kiosk for visitors to sign in and order products from our web site. I also must limit the computers to only those pages related to on line ordering. In other words... nothing else but the pages I want them to see. Is there a way to do this using IE?

Thanks!

Excellent kiosk software that is very reasonably priced. I have a win2k system in the middle of Times Square running SiteKiosk, the OS is locked down and users can only access 1 website. No problems in the 4 months it's been used. I have to go get some usage statistics from it next week, I'm curious how many times it's been used.

The configuration is so simple and intuitive, you can probably lock down those comps in about 30 minutes of configuring and testing.

EDIT: I just noticed that this is going to be used for order processing. You have to make sure that when the user leaves, their personal info is flushed. This is going to be pretty difficult to do, you can't expect the user to log out manually, but you can't really set a timer to log them out automatically, because it may do so in the middle of their session. I'd be very, very careful about how you proceed with this. Will these machines be supervised?

Thanks, Werk.

I really appreciate the link and info. I have also wondered about clearing the personal info and I'm not sure I am comfortable with the hazards. I can't count on the computers being supervised so I would have to say no. I need to toss that one back to our marketing team and see if they still want to do this.

SiteKiosk's demo is free, so play with it a little. You may find a way to do it, this is a different application than what I used SK for, but it's a very flexible shell.

Ah, marketing people. Don't get me started. :p

this site has a little bit of information on how to secure the browsers in a library setting. I'm not sure whether it will be applicable to your particular problem, but i guess it's worth taking a look.

they have a section on enabling kiosk mode for mozilla as well, in case you're interested in it -)
