I'm a nub so here it goes lol. I read that the multipliers are locked upwards for opty's and x2's. I believe it's true because from the forums I read stated that they are (DFI-street) and among others. The only ones that aren't locked upwards are the FX chips that's why I guess they make such good OCer's I assume. SO why does everyone rants and raves about the opty's? They are pretty much the same as the x2's except for chip quality right? and the x2's are a little cheaper. I mean you can only OC without spending tons of cash to get decent cooling (vapor or water or whatever). Beside how much can it last if you OC let's say a opty 165, 170, 175or x2 4200, 4400, 4800 to 2.6 or higher? Since the multipliers are locked on optys how can they OC soo much better than the x2's??? I mean between the 2 it might be a tiny, minute difference. I'm thinking about getting a opty but I need to know why they are soo much better than the x2's.
Here are some links to confirm they are locked if someone doesn't beleive it is.
