IMO, at least for ME, that would definitely not be a good reason to get tattoos. If it works for him, more power to him. I wouldn't worry what anyone else thinks about it though, that's for sure.

I've been thinking about getting a relatively small tattoo for a long ass time, but haven't found the right one yet. If I was creative/artistic I'd draw up my own, but I'm not.

I and borderline with this one, if in his position I do not know what I would do.
If he is comfortable with the decision then just support him.

If I had a friend in that situation and he confided in me the first thing I would do is make a poll on ATOT and ask other peoples' opinions because I don't know how to just accept those things that are none of my business.

Way to go.

Tell him to wait till he is atleast 30 to decide on this. By then, he will probably have moved on with is life. Sounds more like he is bored with his life and tattoos will fill the void for a while. Kinda like my car stereo phase about 15 years ago.

I don't think that is really a good excuse to get a tattoo, but then again I'm not him.

If he wants to do it, fine. If he regrets it anytime later, tough shit.

He needs to give himself 5 years or so to cope with the disease before doing something drastic like a full-body tattoo. People do stupid things when they first react to bad situations.
