Lock-ups with Burning Software

I'm am currently using W2K with an HP 9100i burner. I was using the demo of Nero since my EX CD creator 4 wouldn't work with W2K. Until recently it was working fine, but then is started acting weird. I would click on Nero and it wouldn't load. If I went to the task manager is would show up under processes, but would never load. I then tried CDRWin and it did the same thing after about three burns. I have to assume now it is a hardware issue, but I'm not sure what it could be. The specs for the computer are below. Thanks for your suggestions,

Greg

Asus cusl2-c
pIII 733 (non-overclocked)
SB Live 5.1
Netgear NIC
15 GB Maxtor HD
Iomega Zip 100
Sparkle 250 PSU
Temps run idle about 34 C --> 40 c full load

your problem may be related to the fact that win2k has no ASPI layer which is needed by the burner. read the content of this page regarding FORCEAspi & you can get it from here! 🙂

No change. The first time this happened I did a fresh install of w2k and it was still happening. If I remember correctly, Nero wouldn't work in win98 anymore as well. Is it possible my burner is about to sh!t the bed?

Thanks,
g

difficult to say with certainty! have a look here for any patches that may be need for ez cd creator to work with your drive! 🙂

Why won't your EZ CD Creator work with Win2k? I've got the HP 9100i burner, also, and I burn with EZ CD creator 4.02. Works great for me. (and I use Win2k, of course)
I've never tried Nero, I was just wondering why "EZ" didn't work for you.
