Lock ups in RTCW and MOHAA?

Homerboy

Lifer
Been having some lock up issues with these 2 titles... the oddball thing is that it only seems to occur during online games and NEVER in single player.

System specs are as follows:

Soyo Dragon+
512DDR Ram
Athlon XP 1600+
Gainward GF3 200ti

On each lock up I have cehck CPU temp and card temp and nothign seems out of line. Even in touching the HS's, they are only "hot" not burning or anythign horribly out of the ordinary.

Standard retail cooling (artic silver on the AMD) and no OC'ing.

Any help/advice is appreciated.

Thanks.

Using the latest videocard/via drivers?
Do you have the "network speed" or whatever it's called correctly set under the contol panel in those games? Just some thoughts.

yeap to all of those.
I was thinking about reverting to the latest "Gainward" drivers rather than nvidia direct.
Im grasping at straw here...

if it only occurs in on-line games, I have to ask if you play single player games as long as you play on-line. If it were video-driver related, you would have the same problems in single player that you have with online play.

You may want to clear your config files and let the games re-create new ones in case any of your settings are screwed up in there...

yeah I play on and off line jsut as long/hard (settigns all the same)

I have a couple f extra NiC card at home. Gonna toss one of those in and see if the built in is the culprit (although I play Madden 2k2 and other games online without any issues).

Just FYI, for those that may or may not care, I "upgraded" the NiC drivers with the drivers directly from the Soyo site and everything (seems) to be working fine now.

I say "upgraded" becuase teh criver version number from Soyo is actually a LOWER # than the drivers that get isntalled with WinXP Pro... go figure.

Thanks for your help.
