Lock up when monitor shuts off (possibly caused by Trixx)

I bought a Gigabyte 7950 a couple weeks ago and it has been working fine. However, the few times I tried overclocking it using Trixx, it runs normally but then if I go to bed and come back in the morning, it will not come back on. It isn't in sleep or anything, I have that disabled. The monitor shuts off like it should, but never comes back on no matter how much I move my mouse or hit keys. I have to completely cut power to the computer and turn it back on to fix it. Turning the monitor off and on does nothing, it doesn't detect anything plugged in. I'll try Afterburner instead for the time being, but does anyone have any suggestions?

Try OC with CCC, set it to the max limit and test stability, if its fine then its probably Trixx causing an idle state error.

I was avoiding CCC because of the lack of fan controls, but I'll try it. This WF3 seems a bunch quieter than my old Dual-X

Tried Afterburner, no monitor lockup, but had some very minor screen flickering in Chrome. I'll try CCC again, that wouldn't launch Fallout for me when overclocked unlike the other two.

I had those issues for almost a year and couldn't figure it out until recently.
The issues I had were screen tearing in Windows when overclocking via afterburner, and the system not resuming from sleep. Also my computer would not turn on or shutoff at times...

The first issue was caused by using the unofficial overclocking mode in Afterburner, supposedly you can OC a small bit higher with it on but overall it was a unstable mess for me. Once i turned it off the flickering went away and I could overclock the same amount as before, but if you have screen flickering with the unofficial mode turned off, then try turning it on and see if it helps.

If you have a external USB powered hard drive, sometimes those will prevent your system from booting up or shutting down. The issue with my system not turning on came down to that surprisingly, if the cable is to long or just not providing enough juice it will hang the system and not allow it to boot. The drive I have is a WD passport and it makes a beeping noise when its having "issues" at bootup.
