No, to my knowledge you can't harm any components by attempting to power on without a CPU. Just wait for the CPU to arrive at your doorstep.
 
well you wont be able to tell if the stuff is doa or not without the cpu..
ie: nothing will come on the screen, probably just get beeps, cant veryify the ram
cdrom and floppy could light up and still be dead..
you know?
better to wait until you get a cpu for it
