locations for snowboarding

me and a couple of friends want to go snowboarding for the first time. we live in GA and were planning to travel upto NC to snowboard for a weekend. any recommended locations? we were looking at wolf ridge and some other places. also any other tips on what we should bring to make the experience better?

the west end of the state is mountainous and gets a fair amount of snow.
