Location of Modem/Route and Connectivity

For years now, I have had either a DSL Modem/Router and now Cable Modem/Router in my basement.
My main computer, desktop is hardwarded connecting to one of the ports.
2 other computers (Lenovo Thinkpads) are connected wireless. No problems, in the house always connecting

We recently purchased an Apple IPAD. Most of the time it works ok in the house, but many times we dont get the complete connection.

To help, I have purchased an AMPED SR300 which allow extender outdoors, its the same SSID as my main SSID. I have two separate networks.
SSID A on Channel 11, SSID A in Channel 3 and SSID A on Channel 3.
Again works fine for my PCs. Still having connection problems with the IPAD.

Now, I purchased a Netgrear WiFi Exender (WN3000RP). This SSID AExt on Channel 3, and the Lollie SSIDs connected.

PCs fine, IPAD hit and miss depending where you are in the house. If I walk downstairs to the router, it connects.

Add a Blue-Ray DVD . Until I setup the Netgear, I could not stay connected wirless for more than 1/2 hour.

OK, NOW for the questions:

1) Is APPLE products more senstitve to SSIDs
2) Would I benefit in moving the Modem/Router to my first floor

Any input would be appreciated (Sorry for the long thread)

Extenders cut the bandwidth into half.

You are better off laying a CAT6 cable to a second place in the house and install one of the devices as an Access Point.

You're holding it wrong.

You can maybe find a device that does repeating on one band and rebroadcasts it on the other band (2.4 vs 5ghz), or do what Jack says and just put another AP elsehwere, which is what I ended up doing in my house.
