Location of Diablo2 CD Key?

Hey all, my friend is trying to reinstall Diablo2: LoD, and the CDKey is rubbed clean off the label on his case. I know there's a way to pull the half-life key out of the registry but I've looked through the Blizzard entries and haven't been able to find it.

Does anyone know a way?

It's not stored in the registry. It's stored in one of the MPQ files when you first install the game. I remember some program that let you extract the cd key, but be weary some versions of that program have been modified to send the cdkeys to certain users.
