A local woman who collapsed at the Western Fair earlier this week after participating in a marshmallow-eating contest has died.

A London Health Sciences Centre spokesperson confirmed the patient's death today, but would not release her name at the request of the woman's family.

The woman collapsed Wednesday evening after participating in a Chubby Bunny contest, in which participants stuff marshmallows into their mouth and then attempt to say the words "Chubby bunny."

Western Fair manager Dave Taylor also confirmed the death.

?I?ve talked with a family member, they have confirmed that the lady passed away late last night," said Taylor.

"They have suggested to me they would like to deal with it in a private manner. And we respect their wishes and will honour their request.?

she probably choked at first, and that complicated an already existing medical condition
she prob got a heart attack or a stroke after they took her to the hospital

A 32-year-old woman was in critical condition Wednesday after choking during a marshmallow-eating contest at the Western Fair in London, Ont.

Paramedics were called to the fairgrounds just after 7 p.m. Tuesday after the woman began to choke and then collapsed.

The unidentified woman was taking part in the Chubby Bunny contest, in which contestants stuff as many marshmallows as they can into their mouths.

"She was finished [the contest]?. She was walking away and collapsed," fair manager Dave Taylor said.

"It was just an unfortunate incident that happened."

EMS duty manager Al Hunt said the woman had no vital signs when paramedics arrived at the fairgrounds.

He said she was revived at hospital and was in critical condition.

Taylor said in light of the incident, the future of the contest was in doubt.

"That contest had been on a few times, but I think we will probably pull the plug on that contest and it won't be continuing on," he said.
