LOL, I am/was stumped( I reinstalled), dumb users. Join a 2000 AD domain and 2 reboots later it literally deleted ALL of the local accounts. No more admin, users, etc. Kinda funny, I googled it, said screw it and reinstalled.

Anyone else run into this?

Nope, 3 other computers on the domain have no problems with this, or with getting GPOs applied. Still has me stumpted though. I feel like when I just 1st started using *Nix, stuff would be gone all the time, then I slowly figured it out. Stop screwing around with settings that don't need to be played with.:D

Like I said though, this has me bewildered.

Did you promote it to a BDC? Do a "net users" just to make sure. Did it kill the admin acct as well?

The server is an AD Domain controller and nothing has changed on the server, just 1 workstation had all the local accounts dissapear, mine, hers, the Admin etc.

I still have no idea what happened, I kinda wished I wouldn't have reformatted/reinstalled, but I needed the workstation running.

It cvould be that they were only local account. You will need to select local or domain login once you join the domain during boot.

Your local account is still there, but you will need to recreate the users account with domain login then move or copy their desktop/favorite/over to the newly created account if you want keep the old desktop & files. Other wise just create the users account in the DC then log into the domain from the client computer & the account will automatically create.

I see what you are saying, but this is different. The local accounts are gone completely from the system, not in users, domain users, their SIDs were gone, all traces of them were gone. I had 2 local Admins and 6 users, locally, and all their information was gone. I could log in locally, ie: this computer, with all the Domain users, but none of the Local accounts could log in. All the Domain users worked fine, just locals were effected.

I have 5 computers under the Domain now, all have Local accounts and have no problems, including the 1 that ate them before.

I wish I could recreate the problem with the 2 test boxes, but I have tried including hosing the registry without being able to recreate the previous problem. Wierd.

Oh well, I will just chalk it up to Windows doing Windows things.

Thanks for all the suggestions and comments.
