local TV on HDTV?

So I don't have cable or satellite TV. I do have an HDTV with HD tuner. How can get get local channels on this TV? I still need an antenna?

I guess you could use a coat hanger, or even a long enough coax cable strung about in the attic would work as an antenna...but you will have to plug something in 🙂

I use my 75ohm rabbit ear antenna I still had from my 1985 TV. I pull in about 40 OTA channels in NY, about 25 are in HD. I have TW cable and HD box is free but I have to bring in the box and get a new one, i'm too lazy and barely watch TV so SD box is fine and OTA works for me. 🙂
