Local backup solution?

Used to use Crashplan, but after they exited the market I've been doing it manually. Now it's time to put something together that's less of a hassle.

I tried SyncToy + Task Scheduler, which seemed like it was gonna work perfectly, but then SyncToy kept "forgetting" the folder pairs I was creating. Is this still getting support from Microsoft?

What are my other options here? Basically, I want to point three different file locations (a My Documents folder, a Dropbox folder, and a teaching flash drive) at a single Master Backup folder on a local HDD. Then I want to point that Master Backup folder to a Google Drive folder and a thumb drive that I can grab in case of a fire.

SyncThing? Cobian? Paragon? What else are people using?

Edit: To clarify, I'm looking for something to echo files, and then replace files in location B that have changed in Location A. Programs that do "recovery" for you, I'm not interested in.

Thanks.
