Lobby information display software

dawks

We're looking at setting up a big screen in the lobby of our building and would like to show different information. Powerpoint is our go-to right now, but we'd like something with more features.

Can someone suggest a program for this? Cheaper is obviously better.

A google search brought up this one, but not sure if its what we need and is maybe a little on the pricey side. (http://www.presentationpoint.com/index.htm)

I think MediaShout would work well for that. It lets you build a script out of "cues" which can be movies, individual slides, photos, etc. You can tie sound files to each one if you want. Like PowerPoint you can have the program advance automatically using time delays you set, loop the presentation continuously, etc.

What I like about MediaShout is you can change the script on the fly, while the presentation is running. So if you want to add a slide that says "Welcome, new Alien Overlords" you can do that without having to stop the presentation, and people in the lobby aren't wondering why the screen went blank.

You say you want "more features" but don't say what you want from those features. Unless more == better.

Pick up a few copies of sound and communications magazine, they cover digital signage.

I don't feel the need to explain more features, since it should be fairly obvious that powerpoint works for this situation, but is fairly limited and basic. I am looking for suggestions for software thats designed for this purpose, and stating that I want 'more features' simply implies that I am not satisfied with Powerpoint.

But if you don't say want dissatisfies you we can't recommend anything that addresses the products shortcomings.

You say PowerPoint is limited and basic. In what ways is PowerPoint limiting you? If you don't provide this information we could make a recommendation that is even more limiting to you.
