Hey all, I was just browsing through task manager today on my 2k box and noticed a process running that I hadn't previously seen. Its called "loadqm.exe" and its taking up a little over 4megs of memory. The weird part is that the file is only 8k in size on my hard disk. Its located in my WINNT directory. Anybody know why its running or what it does?

I heard it is the program that checks for updates for MSN messenger and MSN explorer 6.

Update....I found loadqm is starting up when I load windows (it has its own registry entry in "Run"). I also found a hidden folder in Program Files called "QMgr". Inside it contains a few cab files and its total size is about 20k. The weird part is that I HATE autoupdate programs, I am very careful to avoid downloading anything that might try and automatically request an update for my system. To my knowledge I did not download this program. However, I recently downloaded the latest version of msn messenger...do you think the program was installed when I installed msn messeger?

loadqm.exe is one of the files in the qmgr.cab file included in the latest Messenger download.

can someone pls give the complete registry path for loadqm.exe .
(for ex., HKLM\software\microsloth\windows\current version.....)
anyone wanting to delete it must delete it in the registry, otherwise it is
re-installed at the next bootup.
