loading xp takes so long

Hi,
i got a 1.2ghz ulv notbook with 512mb ram,

don't know y the load time takes quite a while.
I remember the last time before i format this drive, windows loads quite well but this time it takes so long.

I am using a XP pro on this notebook, does it make a difference? because this notebook comes with Home edition.

adaware
microsoft antispyware(beta)

then defrag it for good measure (laptop hard drives need all the help they can get).
