Loading XP hangs at preparing installation,,,70 min

Hi,

I am loading XP Pro, it gets to preparing installation with 70 min left, it hangs here.

The little lights on bottom right are still blinking, the screen changes every 20 or so seconds telling of the different advantages of XP

Could anyone help me get it to load.


I have a P4 1.4 on Asus P4T montherboard, Elsa geforce 3, WD 40gig 7200rpm....basically I have a very new computer.

duno whats wrong but that time is way off beam, maybe a duff cd?

are you doing a clean install , booting from cd etc.


I have a P4 and mine installs (clean ) in 34 mins.


note if you try to install from a dos disk ( not the ms supplied ones for XP ) you must load smartdisk or it will take a long time

I neglected the downloading of updated files to save time loading xp...once i downloaded the updated files that it ask for at beginning it went without a hitch.
