I don't think it's a very good idea. Anything that takes a bit of load is best on it's own, that's why ProFTPD has a config file option, one of the first ones, to tell it if it's standalone or inetd.
 
Yikes... the only reason you might want to do that is to save memory. Are you that low on memory?
