Hey all,

Well you can see in my SIG my system specs but the only thing i think i don't have listed. I have an 80mm fan on the side window(stock) and a 120mm fan exaust in the back. I plan on upgrading my vid card to like the 7800GT. Here is a short run down of new items i'm going to add to my setup.

-Change vid card from X300 to 7800GT :D
-Change from 4x 256m (1gig total) DDR400(or faster tbd) ram to 2x1gig sticks of ram
-2 more sata hdds 250g each (RAID-0 Config havent decided if i want to add to my existing config or make 2)
-o yeah and Water Cooling set up.
-New PSW haven't decided on which one yet prob like a 450w or 500w (upgraded from a 400w) :D

So, my Vid card and ram is not to big of an issue as far as space but the fact that I think I woud like to WC the GPU also. I have my computer OC'ed rather well and I know i could do even more if it was cooler, but i don't want my wife to yap at me for being to loud (good she didn't see me say that) Of course I'm trying to go as quiet as possible which means WC. Luckley I have some money comming toward me and I can afford this splurge. So I'm looking for suggestions on my missing equipment. As far as my WC setup this is what I have in mind. As always please tell me if its crap or if there is some thing better out there.

for Water Block one of these Water Blocks
Reservoir
pumps i have no idea i picked out the Hydor L20 Inline before but need help here
Black Ice Xtreme Radiator
The rest not listed is all open aswell. Of course my Radiator could change depending on what case i get etc.
Please share your thoughts and offer my some much needed help. This will also be my first WC rig. Thanks

I just had a chance to reread my OP and saw that I wan't really clear on what I was asking. I'm looking for ideas for a new case and thoughts on my choices for a WC rig.

How much do you want to spend on PSU? There's a very good Fortron in the $50 range. That should be enough juice, but if you want more overhead, spend more $. Search the many PSU threads here at AT for more research.

DD and Swiftech both make good blocks. I won't tell you which one to get, look them over, read some reviews and field reports from WC sites, buy what you think you'll feel good about owning.

Reservoir - convenience item, makes bleeding/filling easier for some folks. Since this is your first project, I's say go ahead and see what it's like to work with one. Stay with the same makers to avoid junk, poorly made reservoirs can leak.

Hydor pumps - no experience with those. Heard that they can be noisy. Eheim makes excellent, quiet AC pumps. Laing makes good DC pumps, the two DC pumps you most commonly see sold by DD and Swiftech are Laing. This is literally the "heart" of the WC setup, so again - read more reviews and field reports, buy one that inspires confidence.

Rad - biggest rad you can fit in or onto the case.

Hope this helps some, the most important thing in a WC setup IMO is quality. Money spent on good parts will protect your expensive electronics from harm, and serve you well for the long haul.

Thanks Painman,

I looked at the fortron PSU and the only thing wrong that i saw with it from what i need is more SATA power connectors which could be fixed. I'm currently looking at a few diff cases to see which one i like and want. trying to keep the case to less then 150. 50 for a PSU is no problem i think i paid close to that for my X-connect 400w. All things included Vidcard, case, PSU, WC gear, ram, (and a few games :D) I'm trying to keep the total cost bellow 1,000us. I know this shouldn't be a problem just don't want to spend more then i need to. THanks for your help!

Newegg has this PSU@$70. Read this short review, then consider it.
http://jonnyguru.com/PSU/NexthermPSU460/ It's fully sleeved. The only negative is it has
two 80mm fans=not silent. I like the copper HSs with the aluminum sinks riveted to them.

overcool.com did have this case at $115 but with their new shipment, raised the price to
$148 :( I would have bought one just to have at $115 but now I'll wait. Read this review

Since he carries Akasa products, I talked to Gary Stofer yesterday at sidewindercomputers.
He said he has had several requests for this case but with the shipping from Taiwan it kills
the deal for him as he is not a high volume vendor.
He did say however that this Akasa case is a much better presentation of the GlobalWin YCC 61F1-B.
The only negative for me about this case is the plain face. Note how wide it is.

Ok.. So obviously the Globalwin is made by YCC (they don't even hide the fact in their part number.) Isn't the Akasa too?

Sure looks like it jonny. Where can this case be had besides overcool??

The width and slide out tray w/120mm fan is bit...Well, it's just plain nice.

I'll find out for you. ;)

Maybe I should just buy a container from Taiwan and sell them myself. :)

Here it is for $99 on the home page of http://www.computernerd.com/ Careful, it opens with a sound file.

But it's not avalible in black and the left side panel is all plexi. From what I've read that
large side window can/will crack in shipment, plus that is just too much window for me.

I like the Playboy peek-a-boo type windows :p

I hi-jacked the OP's thread, sorry. jonny, I'll hang tough for the Eclipse 62 for a late Summer build.

Gary at sidewinder did say the finish of the Akasa case was much better than GlobalWin's.

Thanks every one, I did read the reviews on all the products that yall listed and thanks for the replys. I do have to say that the power supply listed is nice and i think this would be a good purchase all though i will have 4 SATA drives, so i'll have to come up with some thing. I'm not so hot on the case to be honest. This is a bit more then what i was planning on getting but i really like this case.
Case1
Second option I was looking at but not a very close runner up is this one.
Case2
I'm looking at some thing with dual 120mm fans in the back so i can get a dual 120mm rad for my WC rig.

Door number one Bob.! I've read some good reviews on that case.

You should really put a Tiger Direct warning on the second link :D

I'm on air so IDK but if you use both rear 120s for exhaust, you may starve the PSU for
cooling air.

The WCing guys can work with you on that.

LOL yeah. I have been looking for a link to my current case (from tiger before i found newegg) :( I know i got my cpu up to 2658 (unstable due to heat I'm pretty sure) so i'm looking at better cooling I know they make some kick @$$ air coolers but i'm also intrigued but WC as i like to mess with stuff i most likley shouldn't :D

You might want to consider a case from this Page . The S6000 is the same as the Silverstone Berserker that I reviewed at http://www.techimo.com/reviews/ except for the bezel, shiny "Titanium finish" and the small window.

God I love the tortured English on that YCC site - "Explosive Drawing" indeed - I wonder if it's safe to DL over the Internet. Thanks for the link JG. You gave my my rofl for the evening.

If you're willing to pay in the $150 range for a case, you might want to have a look at a Stacker.

Here's a review for your inspection

Water? Rad placement is usually the tricky part, here's how Danger Den does it.

I like the stacker. The only thing is that i don't know if i want to waste that many drive spaces for the rad being that i'm going to have so many drives. Thoughts??? Does any one here have a stacker what are the other options????? I don't have a good tool to cut the top of the case to do a good mod. IE drill a hole in the top 120mm size for fan and rad. Is there a advantage disadvantage to using 2 120mmx120mm's sepreate or one that is (120mmx240mm) combined? That S6000 didn't look to bad but is wasn't able to see many pictures of it. :( I've just looked at the P180 as well. The other thing i was wandering about (becides why the P180 doesn't have a side window) is i'm looking at getting the UGURU display window for my mobo as well which i think will take up one of my 5 1/2 drive spots (not big issue) i only have 2 optical drives and really only need/use one. Please keep the comments coming

OK it is between the two following unless i find the same thing with a side window :D (do i hear a mod comming ???)
P180 From newegg
Stacker 810 From newegg
From what i have read it shouldn't be to much of an issue modding the side of it and putting some plexi on it. The stacker looks like it could be even quicker being that it has that side screen there. Ideas????

You can buy a replacement side panel for the Stacker that's already plexified, it's a shame you can't just buy the case that way. Check around, maybe someone will do that.

I believe I've also seen bottom rad mounts done with the case. Lots of room down there, and it comes with casters to make bottom clearance for air.

Take a look at the Aerocool cases before you commit. Esp. the Masstige/Coolview . Most of the benefits of a case like the stacker with significantly less out-of-pocket.

On my computer desk my case is actually lifted off the ground and it has lik 1/4 in holes in it so that might be an idea don't know. My biggest objection is the side window.

Thanks Zepper. Looking at what i have posted above and what not i've got the list close to the following (additions are most likley to come if you know what i mean) :D
both newegg links :D
GIGABYTE 3D AURORA GZ-FSCA1-ATB Black
Antec Performance I P180 Silver
